What is Sustainable Development? (terrific!)

The Concept of Sustainability has been around for some time and continues to gain momentum as the mean level of education of humanity continues to climb.  The math is not difficult.  We have been living at the expense of our environment, and by environment, I mean the sum total of all that provides us the ability to survive.

We have lived in the red, in a deficit, taking more than we receive, from what surrounds us.  We do not return in equal measure what we take, and this situation has term limits.  For the sake of our survival, reason and intelligence must prevail over greed and arrogance.

If given the resources and political support, our scientists have the means and the skills to navigate the terrain and identify solutions.  We must then have the will to implement the required measures.

What is in the way?  Individuals more committed to their own short term prosperity than our survival.
